I was travelling with Norwegian Air from Gatwick to JFK New York. Myself and a companion were going on a 5-day city break. We got as far as the boarding gate when we were told the flight would be delayed, they said it was a mechanical fault, but we were given no further information.
Sometime later we were told there would be a replacement flight the following morning and were given a £10 voucher. That was it, we were left to our own devices! We had to find our own hotel and make our own way there and back to the airport the following morning for the replacement flight!
We got back to the airport the next day and now the replacement flight kept being put back, no reason as given for this, we just had to wait and keep checking the departure board! Eventually we left 24 hours later than our original departure time. This was very frustrating as we only had 5 days in New York and now this was down to 4 days.
I did write to Norwegian Air and managed to get the cost of the hotel refunded but that was all they gave me, I felt this was not enough, but I was ignored, I guess they were just hoping I would go away! I did a quick online search and found Air Delay.
The website was very easy to use and I submitted the flight details in minutes. I received regular updates about the status or my claim. My claim was also passed to the Air Delay solicitor who obviously would not accept any excuses from Norwegian Air until they got the flight delay compensation that was due to me.
We were awarded £630 flight delay compensation – this has paid my car tax and my son’s birthday is coming up soon, so some will be used on that! I would definitely recommend Air Delay to other people – they did not accept no for an answer!
