Two colleagues and I were travelling on a business trip with Cityjet, from London City to Amsterdam Schiphol, from there we were catching a connecting flight on to Denmark.

We had checked in and were waiting to board when we were told our flight would be delayed. We were not really given much information at this point. Eventually we were told that City Airport would not allow the flight to take off, that there was a shut down, and the situation was beyond the airlines control. We just had to wait until the flight was allowed to go. We were not sure why our particular flight was delayed as other planes were taking off. We did get given a food voucher, I can’t remember the exact amount but it was not a lot!

The delay ended up being well over 3 hours long, of course we missed our onward flight to Denmark as well which was really inconvenient and very tiring.

I was aware that I should be able to claim compensation for this flight delay. I was searching for information on how to put in a claim on Google when I came across the Air Delay website. The site was so easy to use, I just keyed in the flight details and received regular email updates about my claim. About six weeks later my compensation cheque arrived in the post, I was awarded around £150, which I just paid into my bank account.

Next time I saw the colleagues I had been travelling with, I told them how Air Delay had successfully won flight delay compensation for me, and suggested they too should be able to get some compensation.
